Welcome to Sunday Gathering

Fourth Sunday of Every Month I 4:00-6:00 PM ET
New York City Studio I Virtual Studio

Each month, a different teacher will guide a 90-minute session shaped by their unique creative spirit. Sunday Gathering is intentionally open-ended: a place for teachers to share what truly lights them up, to experiment with ideas they’ve been curious about, and to offer practices that may not always fit into a traditional class format. From extended flows and themed explorations to interdisciplinary or contemplative practices, this is a time to lead from inspiration and authenticity.

For students, Sunday Gathering is an opportunity to experience yoga beyond the mat. It’s a chance to encounter new perspectives, deepen your relationship to practice, and engage with the diverse voices that make our teaching community so vibrant.

Following the practice, we’ll gather for tea, treats, and conversation, creating space to connect, reflect, and simply be together. This closing circle is an essential part of Sunday Gathering, nurturing the sense of belonging and shared presence that defines The Yoga Common.

Sunday Gathering is about creativity, curiosity, and community. It’s about honoring the richness of our collective practice and making room for connection within ourselves and with one another.

Brahma Viharas: The Four Aspects of the Heart

with Kristin Bilella

Sunday, May 31 I 4:00-6:00 PM ET
New York City Studio I Virtual Studio

Let’s dive deep into the heart! On this Sunday Gathering, Kristin will teach about the four aspects of the hearts (called the Brahma Viharas), loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity. We will learn how to incorporate these ancient teachings into our everyday lives and then take the heart to the mat! A heart opening vinyasa flow will follow our talk, opening and expanding while staying connected to self and our own hearts. Class will conclude softly with yin/restorative poses to help send more grounding back to the heart before Savasana.

Therapeutic Flow: Movement for Everyday Release

with Judith McGrath

Sunday, June 28 I 4:00-6:00 PM ET
New York City Studio I Virtual Studio

Led by Judith, this Sunday Gathering blends experience in healthcare and yoga to offer a therapeutic approach to movement and mindful body awareness. The workshop is designed to support the body through intentional, restorative movement with an extended warm-up focused on areas where many people commonly hold tension or discomfort.

Participants will explore mobility and gentle stretching for the wrists, shoulders, neck/cervical spine, mid-back/thoracic spine, lower back/lumbar spine, and hips. These practices are intended to help relieve acute discomfort that may arise from yoga practice, daily movement patterns, or the physical demands of everyday life, while creating greater ease, stability, and connection within the body. Throughout the session, participants will move through a slow, flowing sequence of poses that promote balance and well-being. The class will conclude with restorative yoga.
