Welcome to Sunday Gathering
Fourth Sunday of Every Month I 4:00-6:00 PM ET
New York City Studio I Virtual Studio
Each month, a different teacher will guide a 90-minute session shaped by their unique creative spirit. Sunday Gathering is intentionally open-ended: a place for teachers to share what truly lights them up, to experiment with ideas they’ve been curious about, and to offer practices that may not always fit into a traditional class format. From extended flows and themed explorations to interdisciplinary or contemplative practices, this is a time to lead from inspiration and authenticity.
For students, Sunday Gathering is an opportunity to experience yoga beyond the mat. It’s a chance to encounter new perspectives, deepen your relationship to practice, and engage with the diverse voices that make our teaching community so vibrant.
Following the practice, we’ll gather for tea, treats, and conversation, creating space to connect, reflect, and simply be together. This closing circle is an essential part of Sunday Gathering, nurturing the sense of belonging and shared presence that defines The Yoga Common.
Sunday Gathering is about creativity, curiosity, and community. It’s about honoring the richness of our collective practice and making room for connection within ourselves and with one another.
Surya Namaskar: Surya Namaskar: Storytime and Kirtan

Sun Salutations are a fundamental part of every practice—but do we all know why?
This extended class will start by sharing the myth of Hanuman, a.k.a. King Rama's beloved friend, the Monkey God. As a child, Hanuman was enamored with the sun. He looked up each day and watched the sun travel through the sky. Hanuman thought maybe the sun was a delicious mango. Finally, temptation got the better of him. He jumped up, plucked the sun out of the heavens, and put it in his mouth. The entire world went dark.
During this 90-minute vinyasa class, we will practice asana, sing “Sita Ram,” and learn how all the Hindu gods came together to better educate young Hanuman. You will leave filled up with courageous sun energy—and more knowledgeable about the “why” behind Surya Namaskar.
Sun Salutations clarify us. They help us burn away the dross.

Olivia leads a yoga workshop to balance the seven energy centers of the body, the chakras. The session begins with a 20-minute chakra meditation using mantras and visualization to release blocked energy and restore the free flow of prana, the life force energy.
It continues with a 45-minute asana practice with an emphasis on poses designed to balance each chakra, supporting physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Open to all levels, participants will leave feeling more grounded, energized, open and expansive.
